Without a\nshadow of a doubt, PRAYING MANTIS can be called true pioneers of the NWOBHM\nthat started 40 years ago, bringing to light rock monsters such as DEF LEPPARD,\nIRON MAIDEN or the glorious SAXON. Even tho, given the fact that PM have a\nstrong melodic\/AOR-ish touch, for some people they were not metal enough to fit\nthis category. What we’re having here is another live document. This time\naround, the band was captured alive (no pun intended) at the Frontiers Rock\nFestival, where they played a short but sweet set, concentrating on their more\nmelodic rock side. Although they played one of my fave PM tracks \u2013 ‘Dream On’,\nthey left out another (‘A Cry For a New World’). Well, it actually is not much\nof a big deal as the 10 tracks of the album sound really consistent, 2 tracks\n(‘Keep It Alive’ and ‘Mantis Anthem’) were lifted off their recent album\n‘Gravity’ and all in all the band plays as tight as an iguana’s arse. After\ncountless (big name) singers coming and going, brothers Troy seem to have found\nthe right vocalist in Dutchman John Cuijpers now, who has been with the band\nfor the past 15+ years. In a nutshell, these ingredients make ‘Keep It Alive’ a\nvery good live compilation for all the fans who could not attend the festival\nin 2018, or for those who want to relive their memories. May the Mantis be\nthere for at least another 40 years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
