Well, to immediately put things into perspective again: yes, the music is not new, but that’s not the reason why we are here anyway, right? Rosall and gang manage to transport the old, classic melodic rock sound of the late 80s and 90s into the here and now. While on the one hand, you constantly find yourself thinking that you known some melodies and hooks, on the other hand, I for one truly enjoy the “old\u201c melodies of songs like “Trespass Of Love\u201c (a great straight forward melodic rocker)\u00a0 or “Lost In The Dark\u201c. Any of the songs on the PASSION debut could have been directly lifted off the aforementioned “Night By Night” album or FIREHOUSE, DANGER DANGER, TYKETTO, HAREM SCAREM etc. – got the idea? Add a good dose of LEPPARD-ism to the production and PASSION might be something for your list eventually. Even if originality is not the band’s motto of the day, the production is really crisp and powerful (again, a comparison with “Night By Night” is not too far-fetched here)\u00a0 \u2013 something that some of the classics lack compared to today’s standards in keeping with contemporary listening expectations.
