Tapani Tikkanen (v, PRAYER) from Oulu/Finland is well-known under the nickname “Tanna“ in his home country where his band by the same name was quite famous back in the eighties and early nineties. Now after several projects, bands and work for commercials the singer is back with TANNA (including new musicians, though) to carry on with the legacy of the band which was very active in terms of releasing albums, singles and massive touring. The TANNA story was over in 1989, though, with a short-lived comeback in 1993. Some awkward business decisions by the label and probably the changing music climate might have played a considerable role here, too. Nevertheless, after all those years, “Storm In Paradise“ offers fine melodic and hard rock with a great amount of AOR. The production is all but polished but actually sounds great and extremely melodic tracks like “Sillhuettes“, “Run Like Hell Tonight“, “Mysterious Fire“ or the very personal and rather melancholic“Nights On The Road“ which is dedicated to a very good friend of Tanna who passed away a few years ago, make the album an enjoyable companion for a long time. Worth to be mentioned as well is the slightly longer track “Hispaniola (Treasure Island)“ with its dense atmosphere. Well, obviously it’s not always Sweden when it comes to melodic sounds.
