More than three decades had to pass, until the first solo record of THE RODS drum legend Carl Canedy “Headbanger“ finally saw the light of day. Now, six years later, comes “Warrior“, this time recorded with a complete band instead of guest musicians like on the debut. The album kicks off with a battering ram par excellence called “Do It Now“, damn heavy yet with a great melody. More highlights follow hot on the heels with the midtempo “Not Even Love“, “Lies“ and the title track. Singer Mike Santarsiero (ex TLC) is a real surprise and shines with a wide vocal range. A word or two have to be said about six stringer Charles Russelly as well who delivers the goods here. Bass player Tony Garuba shows his vocal abilities on the pumping “Hellride“. The really punchy production with the mix done by Chris Collier deserves a special praise and crowns an album with a lot of ups and no downs. If you‘re into first class US Metal, this should be your choice!
